===Mythological Origins===

Legend said that Ante was established after the deities of Spireloft deposited their creation, the Fey, here. Specifically in [[Aris]], the capital city. Ante was the first and largest nation of Spireloft, once occupying the entire East Continent.  

In its early history, Ante encountered the Fiend along their borders to the Western Continent. Believing these to be the creation of [[Aeritoth]], the Antans invaded the East and encountered a portal from which the Fiends were emerging. They destroyed it, unleashing a blast of energy known as [[the Flare]] that scorched the land and wiped out much of the life in the West.  

Ante's development as a nation was still impacted by the events of the Flare, and their relationship with the nations of the West remained strained.  

The population of Ante, once entirely Fey, was now as diverse as the rest of Spireloft.  

Ante's system of government was tied to a powerful feudal [[Peerage of Ante|system of nobility]], with a Sovereign ruling from Aris who demands respect from ever-decreasingly important nobles. These nobles made up the ruling class of Ante's various cities and towns, some merely occupying important spaces in society while others own entire swathes of the countryside or even villages. Ante's nobility was not strictly hereditary, as citizens can be granted a title by recognition of the Sovereign.  

The Antan state has expanded through the East Continent, from the southern area of what was then [[Elixis]] to the north-eastern region of [[Aigrot]].  

Aigrot, originally settled by Fey during the earliest age of Spireloft, had slowly developed a distinct cultural identity and a desire for independence. This was mostly striven towards by the democratic [[Aigrot Liberation Movement]], who intend to gain independence through acknowledgement by the Sovereign.
