At the time of Spireloft, Nycen's population was very small, with Aelwe'ni being the only Fey before Cibil arrived. Nycen had a few stores, including the one where Howie worked, and most of the population lived in tents typical of Sylthe.
Around a year before Spireloft, the ALF set up their first overseas branch in Nycen.
After its destruction by Woodhollow expanding, most of the population fled north to Adyta and then onwards to Cutler Cove or Ante. One ship carrying survivors from Nycen, including Aelwe'ni, was blown up by Captain Perlath en route to Ante, with few if any survivors.
