Aisance Arthenwells
Aisance Arthenwells was a Spireloft character who was a competitor at The Arena during the first session of the campaign.
Visual Description
Aisance had orange-colored skin and black wavy hair. He also had a thin mustache. His Arena attire was a peacock-themed outfit that sported the colors of Ante, and he often channels his magic through two wands.[2]
History
Aisance was a famous spellcaster who competed often at The Arena on Team Ante. He was considered the most valued player on the team and often did not rotate out of the set compared to the others.[3]

In Wibble Wiping and before the event began, Aisance took advantage of a sparring match between Esmer Gnash and Kiorend Weffr and killed Esmer by knocking their head back into a wall using a spell.[4] Having been wearing a cloak, he exited the scene and continued to participate in the Arena as normal once it began. It was implied that some of Kiorend's friends witnessed Aisance's crime as they provided a description of the killer to Vrik Knaver.[5]
During the event, he used a spell to wet the ground of his opponents after resisting a blast from someone on the Lorecian team. The Arena event was cancelled before a winner was determined, and he likely returned to Ante afterwards because The Arena was the only reason he ever went to Basillera.[6]
After Cibil Cythalamynn testified the actual description of Esmer's killer, General Knaver apprehended him and he was arrested. He did not resist and confessed his motive for murder as to be "for an advantage [in the Arena]".[7] He was detained for months until his eventual release, weeks after he was interviewed in An Interview with Aisance Arthenwells.
Controversies
Aisance was considered a significant Antan figure, and so many of his sponsors were quick to deny claims of homicide.[8] His lawyer had also prepared a defense for him, but he was not cooperative and pled guilty. Aisance's retirement from spellcasting was announced, but no reason was attached to the public's knowledge to why.[9]

Trivia
- Aisance was originally going to be one of the corpses in the finale, but connecting him to the final antagonist was too difficult.[10]
