NBITTRPG Wiki:Manual of Style/Page Formatting/Characters
This is a subsection of the page formatting rules about how character pages should be formatted.
General Rules
Opening Sentences
The opening sentences of a character page article should specify what world they originate from and if they're from an alternate universe, if applicable. NPC pages have opening sprawls that are slightly less detailed than PCs, so the following examples will be for a PC.
The following example is not acceptable because it is unclear to the reader what the content of the page is about:
- Luth Helwind was a Swartian.
There is not enough context for a reader to continue reading. The sentence above may force them to go onto the page about Swarte, which would waste time if they just knew that Swarte was a nation in Weathia. Here's how it can be reformatted:
- Luth Helwind was a character in The Sky World. He was played by CStatic in JD's NCI D&D Campaign and hailed from the nation of Swarte.
This is a much better description, and from this, the reader can gleam several pieces of relevant information. The most relevant being that this isn't about Luth from Weathia-Prime, but instead Weathia-Pilots.
Content Order
This is the general order of headings for character pages. If a heading is not applicable, it does not have to be included.
