NBITTRPG Wiki:Manual of Style/Page Formatting/Items
This page is a subsection of the page formatting section of the Manual of Style that explains how item pages should be formatted.
General Rules
- Quill's Dagger was an item in Weathia. It was used by...
If the item was primarily used in a world it did not originate in, here's how that can be formatted:
- Five Nights at Freddy's was an item originating from Earth. It was used during a stream by Gin Silvercrest...
Opening Sentences
The first few sentences should specify the item name, what the item is, the the world it originated from, and the main user, if applicable. If the item has an unknown origin, please state so.
For example, this is not an acceptable opening sentence:
- Five Nights at Freddy's was a game that Gin Silvercrest played.
This is far too vague and doesn't provide enough information at a glance. Here's how it can be reformatted with all of the information in mind:
- Five Nights at Freddy's was an item originating from Earth. It was a video game originating from Earth and was played by Gin Silvercrest during a dubiously-canon stream.
Content Order
This is the general order of headings for item pages. If a heading is not applicable, it does not have to be included.
- Description
- Interactions
- Appearances
- Gallery
- Trivia
- References
The Description should describe the item in detail. Visual description should come first, then subsequent sentences should explain its origin, why and how it works, and any changes in ownership that may have occurred. Any other relevant information can be put into this description as well, like if it was mentioned by anyone but not used.
The Interactions section should be a bulleted list that link to a character that has used or interacted with the item before. If somehow the item has interacted with another item on its own, it can also be listed.
and Appearances sections should be bulleted lists that either link to a character about a location (e.g. shops, buildings, etc.) or character but if none is available, a brief description may suffice. Each list element should be bolded.
All session pages should be tagged [[Category:Items]].
