SMTDDD:Squadron Zero's Superhero RPG

Squadron Zero's Superhero RPG was a set of canon games-within-games run after the conclusion of SMT:DDD. Set sometime after the final confrontation with Hakua Kuzunoha and The White, the RPG used the SQUADRONS & ZEROS ruleset (a hack of Lasers & Feelings).

In-universe, the Superhero RPG was organised by Quentin and set in the fictional city of QUENTOPOLIS.

Setting

QUENTOPOLIS (stylised in all caps) was a fictional city located in the United States of America. QUENTOPOLIS was characterised by its low rents, and was home to notable features like the Very Nice Vegan Restaurant, a chain of American diners, a public library, and a tall tower home to a billionaire.

Adventure One

Chapter 1

Money Guy, the Caped Quevenger, Prancing Horse and Lunar were gathered at their Superhero Hideout to discuss the imminent plan that was to be hatched by the fallen villain Lord Quentling: protect Wayne Walter and fix everything. The "heroes" resolved to kill Wayne in order to stop this "evil" plot. They decided to first track down and defeat Lord Quentling's goons: the entire DeGroot Family!

Knowing that the DeGroots were hiding in a local McDonalds owned and operated by the Neo Messians, Lunar offered to use her space-bending powers to teleport the team there. Unfortunately, she badly mistimed her teleportation and dumped the entire team in a branch of the local American diner!

To make matters worse, Lunar was deathly allergic to "bad food" and went into anaphylactic shock. Thankfully, The Prancing Horse had an epipen with them and was able to save Lunar's life... who felt compelled to kiss their saviour.

The team then decided to travel to the McDonalds by public transportation, but realised that not one of them had a bus pass. Instead, they convinced Money Guy to get them an Uber and cover the fair, but at the last minute the Prancing Horse demanded that the Caped Quevenger fly ahead carrying Money Guy so that they could have the back seat of the Uber to themselves.

While flying, the Caped Quevenger and Money Guy had a surprisingly amicable discussion, but the Quevenger was forced to land due to air traffic.

Arriving at the McDonalds, the team discussed the next steps. Lunar decided to impersonate her father, an infamous cat lawyer, by dressing up in square glasses, a fake moustache, and a fez. They struck up conversation with the employees at the McDonalds, which confused Money Guy. He decided to get involved, offering to pay the employees twice their usual monthly rate if they agreed to help the team defeat the DeGroots. The staff agreed, partially because Money Guy already owned all of the Neo Messians in QUENTOPOLIS.

The superheroes and the staff of the McDonalds approached the DeGroots, who were sitting in the back of the restaurant. Confronting them, the Caped Quevenger used his extending headband to fly around them and tie them up, but unfortunately fell on his face. By punching himself in the face again, he convinced the family to explain how to defeat Lord Quentling out of pity for him.

Chapter 2

The DeGroots explained that the solution to defeating Lord Quentling was money. This made Money Guy very happy, as he still needed to collect the rent from the Very Nice Vegan Restaurant (which he also owned). The team decided to head back there, with Money Guy renting a limo. Unfortunately, he decided to order the most expensive option which drained all of the cash in his wallet. Even worse, the QUENTOPOLIS economy then experienced a spontaneous crash! To add insult to financial injury, the Prancing Horse decided not to ride with Money Guy but instead ran ahead with Lunar in her arms.

When they all arrived at the Very Nice Vegan Restaurant, Money Guy collected the rent they owed him. This caused a bit of a crisis in the superhero team, as Lunar came to the realisation that perhaps it wasn't particularly moral to be part of a super "hero" team featuring a landlord. They wondered if perhaps this journey as a team would cause Money Guy to become a better person, but he denied this.

"Are we meant to redeem Money Guy?” “No, we’re killing Wayne Walters!”

Chapter 3

The team then located Lord Quentling at the public library. Lunar recalled the directions, so they decided to walk there are Money Guy was nearly Broke. On the way over, Money Guy pieced things together and discovered that the villain, "Lord Quentling", was none other than his employee: Hakua Kuzunoha!

When the arrived at the library, Money Guy persuaded Lord Quentling to come over and talk to him. When they approached, he promptly fired them.

Lord Quentling now defeated, the team decided to finish what they'd come to do and kill Wayne Walters. The Caped Quevenger flew up into the library to scout for Wayne, but unfortunately crashed into the Harry Potter section and was killed in a dramatic explosion.

Money Guy then turned to Lord Quentling and offered them the entirety of the Very Nice Vegan Restaurant's rent money if they would tell them where Wayne Walters was hiding. Lord Quentling agreed, and the surviving members of the team located Wayne hiding in the fiction section. The Prancing Horse made one last plea to save Wayne Walters, as this was the sort of behaviour villains might do, but Money Guy approached Wayne, drew a gun, a shot him... and then turned on the Prancing Horse and shot them, too!

The Prancing Horse, using their super speed, dashed straight at Money Guy with their brass knuckles extended. The two struck each other in the same millisecond, mutually destroying each other!

Distraught, Lunar activated her special gemstone (that was actually a star). She wished on the star that her time-travel powers would never fail, and travelled back in time to the moment of Money Guy's birth to prevent it from occurring. Returning to the present day, they found that the Prancing Horse, Caped Quevenger, and Wayne Walters were still alive. This meant that Lord Quentling's plot to fix everything had succeeded.

Alas, the time travel came at a cost. The American diner, so beloved by the Caped Quevenger, had ceased to exist.
