Lyss Cadogin was an ALF recruit from an Antan noble family and older sister of Klaes Cadogin.

History[edit | edit source]

As a child, Lyss found it easier to befriend the children of farmers working on her parent's estate than her peers among the local noble families, much to the displeasure of her parents. She learned of the Aigrot conflict as a teenager and often argued with her parents about it: while Lyss believed the Aigrotian independence movement was just, her parents regarded them as insurgents and criminals.

Lyss had a close relationship with her younger brother Klaes, often protecting him from their older brother's bullying. Lyss often tried to talk to Klaes about the political issues she was passionate about, but Klaes remained more or less disinterested.

After turning 18, Lyss resolved to leave home and travel, particularly in Aigrot. She told none except Klaes, swearing him to secrecy, but Klaes immediately told their parents the morning of Lyss' disappearance. Klaes hoped their parents would set out to find Lyss and bring her home, but instead the Cadogins disowned Lyss entirely and refused to mention her again.

Lyss travelled through eastern Ante and Aigrot, volunteering in different social projects. She met Tallas Howeth while working at a clinic set up by the Aigrot Liberation Movement, who inducted her into the ALF after some protests by Tacyon Howeth. She was introduced to Kiet Kiet, who began her training as an intelligence officer.

Lyss and Kiet Kiet proposed a plan to transmit important documents by using Klaes, who by now was a student at Ardridge. Lyss would conceal secret information in otherwise inconspicuous letters to Klaes, which could then be copied distributed by Klaes' roommate, who was likewise an ALF agent.

Lyss became a close friend of Tallas Howeth and began a romantic relationship with a fellow ALF fighter named Phree. On the even of the disastrous ALF attack on leading figures of the Liberation Movement, Lyss gave Phree a bundle of documents to be delivered to her next of kin (Klaes) in case of her death, a Cadogin tradition.

Lyss, along with most of Tallas' cell, did not escape the aftermath of the attack, and was presumed dead by Phree. Howie later used the name "Lyss Cadogin" to travel back into Ante with the Antidote, with the fact that this did not alert to border guards confirming to them that Lyss was likely dead, and not captured.
